This comprehensive multipeak option has us visiting four summits over six days. Amazing views, friendly locals, and quaint villages await you on this literally breathtaking experience.
As the week goes on we will transition from lower altitude, non-technical climbs, progressing towards the daddy Chimborazo. It is not necessary to have a lot of climbing experience, as we will gradually prep you for the final summit, but this will be physically demanding. Strong cardio and a couple prior days at altitude will be key to a successful multipeak adventure.
Today we pick you up and drop you off at your hotel in Quito. We take a short drive to the edge of the city, where we will jump aboard the TeleferiQo (gondola) to ascend approximately 1000 meters up Pichincha Volcano. Our trekking begins at 4100m and peaks at 4696m. At the top of the teleferico there are some places to relax and stay warm, including some options for food and beverage. You will arrive back in Quito late afternoon.

A morning departure from Quito will have us arriving at the base of Corazón in just over an hour´s time. We begin at about 4000m, and as we ascend the 700 meters to the summit, we can enjoy beautiful views of Cotopaxi, Illinizas, Pasachoa, and Pichincha amongst others. After the trek, a short drive to our lodge will allow us some relaxation time.

After an early breakfast we will set for Illinizas Reserve. Today is a bit of a long journey, but we can take our time if needed. We start at 3900m, and after passing three distinct vegetation zones, we arrive to the refuge after 2-3 hours for a break at 47500m. If the weather is clear we head for the summit, which isnt too much further on, 5116m. Today’s climb is the most important for acclimatization. It’s a long day, but we will have a day and a half of low-level physical activity to recover for the final summit. In the evening we will arrive to Estrella del Chimborazo mountain lodge.
Hike time: 7-8 hours Overnight: Mountain Lodge Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner
Today is a full recovery day. The lodge serves excellent home-style meals. The scenery here is spectacular and you will have the full day to enjoy the surroundings.

We leave the vehicle at 4800m where we will depart on foot for the Whymper Refuge. This 200 meter ascent will take us about 30 minutes. We descend back down to 4800m in the afternoon, to the Carrel refuge. We well prep for the late night journey, with equipment practice, safety discussion, and route planning. An early supper will be enjoyed followed by an early snooze. We need to rest up for a midnight departure.
Overnight: Chimborazo refuge Hike time: 1 hour Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner
Depending on weather conditions, and the experience of the climbers, we will depart the refuge between midnight and 1AM. We plan on arrival to the summit at daybreak. The guide will plan a departure time in accordance with current climbing conditions, as to ensure a safe trek, while arriving at an optimal time to enjoy the morning views and allow enough time to safely return to the refuge. On a clear day the summit offers 360 views of the entire country.
