Otavalo Day Tour

Shoppers rejoice! The focal point of this excursion is a visit to the artisan market in the center of Otavalo. The market is the largest of its kind in South America. Textiles and jewelry comprise about 80% of the goods, while the other 20% will have you scouring for that perfect item. A couple of hours meandering the colorful stalls should be plenty to get your bartering done, leaving us with plenty of time to make a few stops exploring other gems in the area. Depending on which day we depart, and your interests, we can make stops at:

• Cayambe-A mid-morning snack, sampling the famous “Bizcochos” (Marzipan) & local cheese.
• Laguna San Pablo-We stops for photos at the viewpoint of the lake and volcanoes.
• Peguche Waterfall- A short easy trek will have us visiting a site sacred to the locals.
• Weaving workshop-A visit to a local family’s textile workshop, with traditional craft demonstrations.
• Cotacachi leather town- We can browse high-quality leather goods, at amazing prices.
• Parque Condor- A bird rescue center not far from Otavalo, educational and entertaining.
