Bellavista Lodge

We depart Quito at 6:30 AM from your hotel. We have a scenic 90-minute drive to the Bellavista Lodge, situated in the Tandayapa Valley. Your guide will greet you upon arrival, helping you get acquainted with your room and facilities. After breakfast, we will hit the trails. Your guide will select the best morning itinerary based upon group size and weather conditions. After approximately two hours on our educational excursion, we head back to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation time. In the afternoon we will set on the trails again, with the option of a general nature and wildlife trek, or a Birder’s path. Keep an eye out for the Olinguito or a Kinkajou, such delightful mammals.

We set out at 5:00 AM for what will be one of the highlights of your visit, as we head for a local reserve for a viewing opportunity of the Cock-of-the Rock, and other possible species. We will arrive back to the lodge for an 8:30 breakfast, followed by a guided hike around Bellavista. After lunch you can take a self-guided trek, using our trail-maps, or enjoy a cup of tea while admiring the hummingbirds at the lodge’s feeders. At 3PM we will set out on another guided hike.

Lets rise early for another birders’ hike in Bellavista. Daybreak always presents the best viewing opportunities. After breakfast we will participate in another included hiking excursion, or you can choose to relax at the lodge. Lunch is included, followed by a 3 PM departure heading back for Quito.
