Overview

Ok, so it’s a bit Cliché to say, but this vessel truly is in a class of its own. For traditional ocean cruising its considered a small cruise ship, by Galapagos standards its on the larger end. With capacity for 100 guests in all suite staterooms, the Celebrity Flora galapagos cruise has set a new standard for luxury in the archipelago. The Flora was built specifically for the Galapagos Islands and is one of the most eco-friendly and environmentally friendly ships in the world.

Every suite is attended to by a Personal Suite Attendant, with their sole goal of fulfilling the Celebrity commitment to an effortless guest experience. The attendant will assist with unpacking, keeping the mini-bar stocked, and bringing tea or coffee in the morning. Each guest will be treated to a welcome bottle of champagne, luxurious bedding which includes a pillow menu, slippers, bathrobe, and other small luxuries in the room. Unlimited wifi, 24-hour room service, and any meal is available served in-suite. Complimentary laundry service is available twice during the cruise.

The menu is designed by a michelin star and all ingredients are sourced locally, both from the Galapagos and mainland Ecuador.

The ship is designed to provide guests with an immersive experience, featuring observation decks and large windows that offer panoramic views of the islands and wildlife. The Celebrity Flora also has a team of naturalist guides, who provide information and lead excursions to the various islands in the archipelago.

The ship offers two itineraries of 8 days each, each visiting different islands within the Galapagos archipelago. These itineraries can be combined, giving you a chance to make all unique visits for fifteen days straight. Guests can participate in activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, and hiking, and observe unique wildlife such as giant tortoises, blue-footed boobies, and marine iguanas.

In terms of sustainability, the Celebrity Flora is a zero-waste ship, with all waste being processed on board and recycled. The ship is also equipped with solar panels, reducing its carbon footprint. The Celebrity Flora offers a luxurious and eco-friendly way to explore the Galapagos Islands and witness its unique wildlife.

The Celebrity Flora is powered by Azipod propulsion units, a type of electric propulsion system. The Azipod system consists of a permanently installed electric motor and propeller unit, mounted on a steerable pod outside the ship’s hull. This type of propulsion provides several benefits, including improved fuel efficiency, enhanced maneuverability, and reduced emissions.

The motor and propeller unit can rotate 360 degrees, allowing the ship to be steered in any direction without the need for a traditional rudder. This makes the Celebrity Flora highly maneuverable and enhances its ability to navigate the narrow channels and shallow waters around the Galapagos Islands.

The use of electric propulsion also reduces the ship’s carbon footprint, as it eliminates the need for a diesel engine and reduces emissions. The Celebrity Flora is equipped with battery packs, which can be charged using the ship’s solar panels, further reducing its environmental impact.
